These flavorful Turkish meatballs are made from minced meat (often lamb or beef) mixed with herbs and spices. They are typically shaped and then grilled, fried, or baked.

Ingredients
- 500 g Ground beef (or lamb/mix)
- 1 medium Onion, grated or finely chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup Fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons Breadcrumbs
- 1 large Egg
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- as needed Olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, cumin, paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper.
- Mix thoroughly with your hands until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is uniform. Do not overmix.
- Shape the mixture into small, elongated patties or round meatballs, about 2-3 inches long.
- Heat a grill or a large skillet with a little olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Grill or pan-fry the köfte for 3-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through and browned on all sides.
- Serve hot with pita bread, a fresh salad, and a yogurt-based sauce.
