Pita Bread

Homemade pita bread that puffs up in the oven – perfect for stuffing with kebab, falafel, or fresh vegetables. Makes about 8–10 breads.

Ingredients
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 3 dl lukewarm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 7-8 dl all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Crumble the yeast into a mixing bowl and dissolve it in the lukewarm water.
- Add the olive oil, salt, and sugar.
- Gradually incorporate the flour until a smooth dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until elastic.
- Cover with a tea towel and let rise for about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 250°C (preferably with a baking sheet or baking stone inside).
- Divide the dough into 8–10 pieces and roll them into balls.
- Roll each ball out into thin rounds (about ½ cm thick).
- Transfer onto the hot baking sheet and bake in the center of the oven for 4–6 minutes. The breads should puff up like balloons – make sure the oven is piping hot!
