Verivorst is a traditional Estonian blood sausage, particularly popular during the Christmas season. It has a rich, savory flavor and a distinctive texture, often served with lingonberry jam.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Remove the verivorst from its packaging.
  2. Heat butter or oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Place the verivorst in the hot pan. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  4. Cook for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the sausages are golden brown and heated through. The casing should be crispy and the filling hot.
  5. Alternatively, you can bake verivorst in an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F) for 20-30 minutes, turning once, until cooked through and crispy.
  6. Serve hot, traditionally with lingonberry jam, sauerkraut, or roasted potatoes.
