- Cook time: 15 min
- Total time: 25 min
Ingredients
- 500 g Ground beef (80/20 lean/fat)
- 4 Hamburger buns
- 4 Lettuce leaves
- 1 medium Tomato
- 0.5 medium Onion
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 0.25 tsp Black pepper
- 4 Cheese slices (optional)
- to taste Ketchup
- to taste Mustard
Instructions
- Divide ground beef into four equal portions and gently form into patties, about 1 inch thick. Make a thumbprint indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging.
- Season both sides of the patties generously with salt and black pepper.
- Preheat a grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. If adding cheese, place it on the patties during the last minute of cooking until melted.
- While patties cook, lightly toast the hamburger buns.
- Slice tomato and onion.
- Assemble the burgers: Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, add the cooked patty (with cheese if using), then tomato, onion, and any desired condiments like ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
