Margarita with a salted rim and lime

Tequila, freshly squeezed lime juice and orange liqueur shaken with ice and served in a chilled glass with a salted rim and a wedge of lime.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it in salt (optional).
  2. Pour the tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave syrup into a shaker.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice.
  4. Shake vigorously for about 10–15 seconds until thoroughly chilled.
  5. Strain into a chilled glass, either served up (coupe glass) or over fresh ice in a rocks glass.
  6. Garnish with a lime wheel or zest.
  7. Serve immediately.
  8. Tips to make it truly great: Choose a good tequila – it makes the biggest difference. Fresh lime juice is essential for flavor. Use a high-quality orange liqueur, not cheap triple sec. Salt only half the rim if you want to vary the taste.
  9. Tips for an elevated, top-shelf Margarita: Use reposado tequila for a smoother, more complex flavor. Add a few dashes of orange bitters or a small splash of fresh grapefruit juice for extra freshness. Use flaky sea salt instead of table salt.
