Rum & Cola – High-End Cuba Libre
By Culiora

Aged rum over large ice cubes, gently topped with premium cola and stirred once. Squeezed lime and orange peel add aroma and freshness.
- Servings: 1
- Prep time: 5 min
- Total time: 5 min
Ingredients
- 5 cl dark or aged rum (e.g., Diplomático, Zacapa, or Plantation)
- 10–15 cl premium cola (e.g., Fever-Tree, Franklin & Sons, or Mexican Coca-Cola)
- Ice (large cubes)
- Lime (zest or wedge)
- Orange peel (optional, but luxurious)
Instructions
- Fill a highball glass with large ice cubes.
- Pour the rum over the ice.
- Gently add the cola to preserve the carbonation.
- Stir very gently, just once around.
- Squeeze a little lime juice over the top and drop in the wedge or twist of zest.
- To elevate it even further, express an orange peel over the top for extra aroma.
- Serve immediately while the drink is cold and crisp.
- Tips: The rum makes all the difference—choose an aged rum for deeper flavor. Use zest instead of just a lime wedge for more aromatic depth. Pack the glass completely with ice for optimal chill and minimal dilution.
- For a true craft-bar touch, add 1–2 dashes of Angostura bitters, use a mix of lime and orange zest, or stir in a small dash of simple syrup to round out the flavors.
